**Description:** Lemon grass essential oil is obtained from the leaves of lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) through the steam distillation process. The yield of essential oil from the plant mass is approximately 0.5%.

**Special Characteristics:** Lemon grass essential oil is a light yellow to orange-red liquid. It has a strong characteristic fresh scent with an intense lemongrass flavor. It is photosensitive, and its saturation in alcohol decreases over time. It is almost insoluble in water. The main component is citral. Geraniol, limonene, and myrcene are included in smaller quantities.

**Applications:** Over time, some indications for the pharmaceutical use of lemon grass essential oil have emerged. It has a strong anti-inflammatory action, making it useful in cases of severe acne as a cream or plaster. It also has a tonic effect on the digestive system. In cases of weak or delayed digestion, the use of lemon grass essential oil as massage oil, rub, or bath oil is recommended. It also has a strong vasoconstrictor effect and can be used for bruises or cellulite as massage oil and friction. Lemon grass essential oil repels insects (mosquitoes, flies) and is therefore used in the production of similar products.

In cosmetics production, lemon grass essential oil is used to impart its characteristic scent to soaps, detergents, and other household products, such as window cleaner. It is suitable for blending with bergamot, jasmine, mandarin, marjoram, patchouli, sandalwood, tea tree, and pine.

In aromatherapy, lemon grass essential oil is used for its stimulating action. Especially in cases of mental exhaustion, anxiety, for example, it can reduce concentration disorders and confusion. Even in lethargy and negative mood, lemon grass essential oil can help when applied using the method of aromatic candles or in massage oil blends.
