**Description:** Musk Nutmeg essential oil is obtained from the dried and ground seeds of the tree Myristica fragans through the process of steam distillation. The yield of essential oil from the plant mass is between 8 and 15%.

**Special Characteristics:** Musk Nutmeg essential oil is mostly colorless to yellow liquid. Its scent is described as spicy and pleasant. Musk Nutmeg essential oil dissolves easily in alcohol (1:5, ethanol 90%), vegetable oils, and other essential oils. It is almost insoluble in water. Its characteristic component is myristicin. Limonene, linalool, eugenol, isoeugenol, methyleugenol, geraniol, and safrole are also present in lower concentrations.

**Applications:** The constituents of Musk Nutmeg essential oil have medicinal properties. Traditionally, nutmeg is used for gastrointestinal discomfort as it is believed to aid digestion and help dissolve stomach gases. Musk Nutmeg essential oil also has strong analgesic properties. Therefore, it can be used as an analgesic for general pain, neuralgia, and rheumatism. Musk Nutmeg essential oil is also considered to help with menstruation. Myristicin contained in Musk Nutmeg essential oil may cause hallucinations.

In aromatherapy, Musk Nutmeg essential oil can be used for memory disorders and lack of concentration as it is considered psychotonic and promotes concentration. Additionally, Musk Nutmeg essential oil is considered aphrodisiac.
