Description

Description: Organic chamomile essential oil is obtained from the flowers of chamomile (Matricaria recutita) through steam distillation. The yield of essential oil from the plant material ranges from 0.3 to 1.5%.

Special Characteristics: Organic chamomile essential oil is a blue to blue-green liquid. It has a characteristic, balsamic, and warm aroma. Significant constituents include bisabolols and azulenes. Azulenes are also responsible for the blue color of the oil. Chamazulene is derived, for example, during steam distillation from the colorless compounds matricin and matricarin.

Applications in Cosmetics: The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of organic chamomile essential oil are important for physiotherapy as it soothes the irritation of eczema, supports wound healing, and relieves headaches and gastrointestinal problems. It is particularly popular for inflammations of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract and the mouth and throat area.

The cosmetics industry uses organic chamomile essential oil for aroma and soothing in skincare products, such as creams and lotions, for sensitive and dry skin with slight redness and irritation.

In aromatherapy, organic chamomile essential oil is said to relieve anxiety and nervousness as it offers emotional balance.

Applications in Food: In the food industry, organic chamomile essential oil is rarely used as an aromatic agent in liqueurs.

CAUTION: Always use diluted in a base oil or other solvent.
