Description: Organic lime essential oil is obtained from the entire fruit of the lime tree (Citrus aurantifolia) through steam distillation. The yield of essential oil from the plant mass ranges from 1.2 to 2.1%.

Special Characteristics: Organic lime essential oil is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid. It has a fresh aroma accompanied by characteristic citrus and terpenes. The main constituents of organic lime essential oil are limonene, gamma-terpinene, and terpinolene. In smaller quantities, it contains p-cymene, alpha-terpineol, and pinene isomers.

Applications in Cosmetics: The constituents of organic lime essential oil also have medicinal characteristics. It has strong digestive action and can be used for general digestive disorders (dyspepsia) as an ointment or massage oil in the gastrointestinal area. The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects of lime oil support not only digestion but also the immune system. Additionally, organic lime essential oil has antiseptic properties and can be used against colds. Here, the recommended application is rubbing on the respiratory tract or with aromatic candles as room fresheners. The scent of lime essential oil also works against nausea.
