Description

Description: Already around 1200 BC. The mango was mentioned in Hindu scriptures as a symbol of wealth and divine nourishment. Mangoes came to Europe in the early 16th century by Portuguese sailors, who brought them home from India. Today, apart from the main export country India, it is also cultivated in many (sub)tropical countries, e.g. in the USA, Mexico, the Caribbean, Kenya, the Philippines, the Canary Islands or Australia. The mango tree can reach a very old age and bear fruit for up to 300 years. With its wide trunk (up to 30 meters in diameter), the mango tree, which can reach a height of up to 35 meters, is quite an imposing tree that has deep roots in the earth. Mango butter is cold-pressed from the dried kidney-shaped seeds inside the yellowish core of the mango. The unwanted byproducts are then removed through the refining process.

Food Applications: Organic mango butter is a relatively unknown alternative to cocoa butter and coconut oil. Use in the food industry in desserts or in the production of margarine. Thanks to the refining process, organic mango butter is heat resistant and can be used for baking and frying. Due to its distinctive taste, the refined aroma of mango seeds, it is an excellent vegan and lactose-free alternative to animal butter. Thus, it is often found in the preparation of margarine and in pastries, cakes, tarts and desserts.
