Description

Description: Artemisia (Wormwood) essential oil is obtained from the plant Artemisia vulgaris through steam distillation.

Special Characteristics: The essential oil from Artemisia (Wormwood) is a yellow to greenish liquid with a soft aroma. It easily dissolves in alcohol (ethanol), vegetable oils, and essential oils, but is almost insoluble in water. Artemisia essential oil contains over 100 flavor constituents, with key components being 1,8-cineole, alpha- and beta-thujone, and pinene.

Applications: Artemisia (Wormwood) essential oil has been used since ancient times for medicinal, ritualistic, magical, and aphrodisiac purposes. Its notable effects on increasing appetite and digestion are of interest even today. It stimulates bile flow, which can be beneficial in gallbladder conditions. It is also used for epileptic seizures and menstrual discomfort. It is known for its repellent effects on intestinal parasites. The mixture of Artemisia essential oil with fatty oils (e.g., almond oil) produces a product that helps protect the skin from skin parasites.

Artemisia (Wormwood) is used in aromatherapy, as it is believed to enhance decision-making ability and concentration.

Artemisia (Wormwood) essential oil is used in perfumery for creating natural forest-like aromas. It is also found as an ingredient in insect repellent sprays.

CAUTION: Always use diluted in a base oil or another solvent.
